IT FINALLY HAPPENED, LATE AFTERNOON RAIN CAUSES SATURDAY NIGHT RACE CANCELLATION AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – With track management battling unsettled weather that always arrives just in time for the weekend, including five of the last six, this time it was rain arriving at the wrong time causing the cancellation of Saturday night’s racing action at Grandview Speedway.
Track management has been able to dodge the weather so far each weekend and get the scheduled race events in the record books, but Saturday rain arrived mid-afternoon just before the gates were to open, leaving track management the difficult decision to call off the planned racing for the evening.
With an earlier starting time in place for the month of April, the rain arrived at a most difficult time, right when the track prep crew needed to be preparing the speedway for the night’s racing program.
Saturday’s race program was to include a two-division show featuring the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman. Grandview Speedway management will come right back next week with another NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program featuring both divisions.
The show on Saturday, May 4 will include qualifying events for both classes leading into a 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature and a 25-lap feature for the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman.
Pit gates will open at 3 pm. with grandstand gates opening at 4:30 pm. warm-ups starting at 5:30 pm. and the first race of the evening getting the green flag at 6:30 pm.
Grandview Speedway management is also reminding everyone of the starting times next week. A switch to a 6:30 pm start time will be used to start the month of May, and management will monitor the situation as far as weather and track conditions are concerned, and make any necessary adjustments in the time schedule. Be sure to stay connected to the Grandview Speedway Facebook page or website at www.grandviewspeedway.com for up to date information and starting times.
Adult grandstand admission is $20, students 10-15 with ID are $10, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $35 for NASCAR members and $45 for non-members.
The following weekend Saturday, May 11 will feature a rare triple-header, as the wingless USAC East Coast Sprint Series will join the T.P. Trailer Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman in a fantastic action packed race program starting at 6:30 pm.
Anticipation is building for the first Thunder on the Hill Racing Series program of the year at Grandview Speedway, which is fast approaching, as the Kyle Larson/Brad Sweet Kubota High Limit 410 Sprint Car Series will be in town on Tuesday, May 28 starting at 7:30 pm with a rain date of Wednesday, May 29.
The program will feature some of the top 410 Sprint Car drivers in the country battling it out against the top Pennsylvania Posse drivers in this high profile racing event on the high-banked one-third-of-a-mile raceway.
Adult grandstand tickets are $40, children 6-11 are $20, while kids 5 and under are free. Pit admission is $45, and no license is required. Advanced grandstand tickets for this event are available at www.tickethoss.com
