RAY SWINEHART WINS HOPE MORTGAGE NASCAR MODIFIED FEATURE WHILE CRAIG VON DOHREN EARNS HIS 11TH T.P.TRAILERS NASCAR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP; KYLE LILICK WON THE SPORTSMAN FEATURE WHILE BRIAN HIRTHLER BECAME A TWO TIME SPORTSMAN CHAMPION

Former track champion Ray Swinehart, who admits to being over 60 years of age, gave the young folks a driving lesson on Saturday night as he drove to his 31st career win at Grandview Speedway taking the top spot in the 30-lap Hope Mortgage T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modified feature earning $3800. And as Swinehart pulled into victory lane as the eighth different winner of the season Craig Von Dohren was announced as the NASCAR Modified Advance Auto Parts champion for the 11th time having last claimed the title in 2017.

In the 25 lap Sportsman feature Kyle Lilick made a strong run in the final laps to claim the win and $1800 which included a $1000 bonus from Hope Mortgage. The win was the second of the season for Lilick. And for the second time in his career Brian Hirthler, who led the standings much of the season, won the T.P.Trailers NASCAR Sportsman title despite finishing 18th in the feature.

Second spot in the Modified feature was earned by Rick Laubach. Brett Kressley came home third followed by Mike Gular and 2020 champion Craig Von Dohren.

Finishing behind Lilick in the Sportsman feature was Jesse Landis who led several laps. Ryan Beltz claimed third followed by Cole Stangle and Jack Butler.

Cole Stangle earned the track bonus for being the top finisher, fourth, in a Crate Sportsman.

Coming up Friday, September 18th is the Freedom 38 for Sportsman paying $3,550 to win with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. and Modified practice sessions will be included. And on Saturday, September 19th, the 50th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic will have the winner going home with a pot of gold totaling $35,550 plus the possibility of some lap money. Racing will start at 7 p.m. Having won the feature on Saturday night Ray Swinehart, a Freedom 76 winner in 2005, will be considered one of the favorites to win the Classic again.
