VONDOHREN, BRIAN HIRTHLER AND KYLE MERKEL LEAD NASCAR POINTS BATTLE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 21, 2017 . . . The battle for NASCAR and track titles, lucrative at the end of the season, is tight in all three divisions as the season moves forward at Bechtelsville, PA’s Grandview Speedway.

    Multi-time TP Trailers 358 Modified champion Craig VonDohren holds the top spot in the Modified standings. The Oley, PA defending champion has 1141 points while 10-time track champion Jeff Strunk holds on to second with 1093 counters. Jared Umbenhauer sits in third 1005 tallies and past champion Duane Howard is fourth with 1003 points. Notable is the fact that none of the top four in the point standings have won a feature race this season. There have been 49 racers earn points so far this season after four Saturdays of racing.

                Veteran racing talent Brian Hirthler is on top in the Sportsman division with 872 points and one feature win. Rookie racer Louden Reimert sits in second with 758 points followed by Mark Kemmerer with 694 counters.

       And Kyle Merkel is out front in the BRC Late Model standings with 926 points while defending champion Chuck Schutz is close behind with 915 tallies.

       Well over 100 racers have taken part in the four nights of NASCAR racing presented so far this season. Rain has played havoc with the early season schedule.

Coming up on Saturday, May 27th is K&N Performance Filters Night featuring TP Trailers 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. and at the same time the Low Down and Dirty Internet radio show sponsored Driver Meet & Greet takes place in the main gate area. This week Modified driver Kyle Weiss (a feature winner), Sportsman racer B.J. Joly and Late Model talent Jordan Knepp will be there along with their race cars. A great opportunity for fans to get a close-up look at the race cars, collect autographs and take photos.

Saturday night admission is $15 for adults while youngsters 11 and under are admitted free.

And this weekend there will be Sunday action. Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Traffic Jam featuring 358/Big Block Modifieds (NASCAR points available) 40 laps, Sportsman and MASS (Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series) Sprint Cars. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

         The Sportsman stocks will be featured on Saturday, June 3 with a $1,500 to win 40-lap main event. Also in action will be the TP Trailers 358 Modifieds and BRC Late Models. Adult admission is $20 for this special event while youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5 while kids under 6 are admitted free.
