EASTERN STORM OPENER STOPPED BY WET GROUNDS, NEXT THUNDER EVENT IS PA SPEED WEEK, TUESDAY, JULY 1 AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 17, 2025 . . . . . . When will Mother Nature give us a break? The Tuesday, June 17 USAC Eastern Storm and 358 Modified Doubleheader became just another show of many to be cancelled due to weather conditions. Extreme wet conditions at the track and a miserable weather day with 93% cloud cover, occasional light mist and no sun is preventing the track crew from starting the preparation. There is also a concern for spectators walking in the grandstand area with the very wet grounds. With six consecutive nights of the Eastern Storm there is no opportunity for a rain date. This is very disappointing for Thunder on the Hill and Grandview Speedway, the originators of the USAC return to Pennsylvania back in 2007. We hope the weather cooperates for the continuation of the Levan Machine and Truck Equipment Eastern Storm that will visit Bridgeport on Wednesday, Big Diamond on Thursday, Williams Grove Friday, Port Royal Saturday and Action Track USA on Sunday.

The next NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill event is set for Tuesday night, July 1 when the Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week teams up with the 358 Modifieds for a double header. Gates open at 5 with race time set for 7:30.

We look forward to Alpine Building Supplies being part of this event and hosting the tailgate Party as a pre-race activity.

The very popular Thunder on the Hill Advance ticket process is in place for the Tuesday, July 1 PA Sprint Speed Week and 358 Modified Double Header. For advance tickets, please call 443 513 4456, leave your name and the number of tickets you need for July 1. You may pay for and pick up tickets at the Will Call Window after 4:15 and enter the main grandstand gate at 4:30 PM. General admission tickets go on sale at 5 PM. Adult tickets are $30, children 6 to 11 are $10 and children 5 and under will be admitted for free. The pit fee is $45 and a license is not required.

The Alpine Thunder on the Hill Series Shirt will showcase a 410 Sprint, a Non-Wing 410 Sprint and a 358 Modified on the back with the Alpine Building Supply and Thunder on the Hill logos placed on the front of the shirt. In addition, all profits from the sale of these shirts will be donated to the Big Impact Group of Schuylkill County. The Alpine Thunder Series shirts will be sold at the Alpine Building Supply display at the Grandview Speedway at all Thunder on the Hill events. Shirts will be $20 up to XL and $25 for larger sizes. Be sure to stop by the Alpine Building Supply and purchase your Alpine Thunder on the Hill shirt and support a worthy cause.

ABOUT THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

Born from the vision of Grandview Speedway owner Bruce Rogers, special events promoter Bob Miller and local driving standout Dave Kelly, the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series has become one of the most anticipated traditions on the racing calendar.

Across more than 130 marquee events, nearly $6 million in prize money has been awarded to the region’s top competitors. From 358 Modifieds and 360/410 Sprint Cars to USAC Non-Wing Sprints, Sportsman, Late Models, Midgets, Legends Cars and ROC Modified competition, Thunder on the Hill continues to deliver headline-caliber short-track racing at Grandview Speedway.
