VONDOHREN, SCHUTZ AND B. HIRTHLER CONTINUE TO LEAD NASCAR POINT STANDINGS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 6, 2017 . . . With just five point races remaining in the chase for the lucrative NASCAR and track titles at Grandview Speedway.
With his win in the lucrative Forrest Rogers Memorial Modified race this past Saturday, Craig VonDohren held on to the top spot in the TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds by a narrow margin over 10-time champion Jeff Strunk. VonDohren, the defending titleholder, is looking for his tenth title while Strunk is looking to add number 11. Strunk is just 74 points behind VonDohren. Third is Mike Gular with 3315 followed by Duane Howard with 3247.
Brian Hirthler continues to hold the top spot in Sportsman with 2596 while Brad Grim sits in second with 2362 counters. Third spot is held by veteran Craig Whitmoyer at 2243.
We have a correction in the Sportsman finish for August 5th which listed Kevin Hirthler as an 8th place finisher and it was actually Brian Hirthler.
And defending champion and current point leader Chuck Schutz is looking to add another title to his impressive list in the BRC Late Models. Schutz is coming off his fourth win on Saturday night and has tallied 3105 points. Bryon Sipe is in second with 2891 while Steve Todorow has moved into third with 2718 counters.
The battle for the titles looks like they will go right down to the final point race on September 9th when championship night is presented. Grandview Speedway is unique in that racers get to battle for two titles both the NASCAR and track championships.
Coming up on August 12th is WNPV Radio Night featuring NASCAR TP Trailers 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 11 and under are admitted free.
WNPV will be giving away three pairs of tickets (value of $94 per pair) to Knoebel’s Amusement Park which will include Good for One All Day Handstamp with Wooden Coasters.
Geiswite Creations will be holding their 4th Annual Back to School Giveaway with more than 100 school age children receiving a folder, notebook and pencils. Some youngsters will receive backpacks.
The weekly Low Down and Dirty Meet & Greet will feature Doug Manmiller, Mark Kemmerer and Shawn Horning. The Meet & Greet gets started in the main gate area at 5 p.m.
