VONDOHREN BACK ON TOP IN GRANDVIEW NASCAR TP TRAILERS MODIFIED POINT BATTLE; SCHUTZ LEADS LATE MODELS WHILE BRIAN HIRTHLER IS ON TOP IN SPORTSMAN
FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 30, 2017 . . . Craig VonDohren, winner of more than 100 Modified feature races at Grandview Speedway during his impressive career, is back on top of the NASCAR TP Trailers 358 Modified point battle as a result of his feature win, his first of the season, at Grandview on Saturday night.
And this Saturday night VonDohren has to be considered a strong favorite when he takes part in the Pioneer Pole Buildings Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lap Modified Classic. He has won the event seven times. With at least $10,000 to win being offered VonDohren is primed to win another one. He has won the last two in a row.
In the latest point standings VonDohren is on top with 3270 points followed closely by 10 time champion Jeff Strunk with 3256. Third is held by Mike Gular at 3017 followed by Duane Howard’s 2981 and Doug Manmiller’s 2886. Only Howard is without a win of those in the top five. There have been 11 different feature winners out of 12 races run so far this season.
Multi-time champion Chuck Schutz continues to lead the standings in the BRC Late Models with 2845 counters. Bryon Sipe, winner of his first feature this past Saturday, is second with 2654 points. Third is held by four feature winner Ron Kline who has 2504 points.
Brian Hirthler, with one feature win and 2409 points, is on top with the Sportsman. Brad Grim, a second time winner on Saturday, has 2262 points to hold second followed by Craig Whitmoyer who has 2038 points and one win.
More than 125 drivers have participated in the three divisions of NASCAR racing presented at Grandview this season.
Just six races, including Saturday’s Pioneer Pole Building Forrest Rogers Memorial for Modifieds, remain in the chase for the NASCAR season finale point titles.
