“NO-REPEAT WINNERS’ STREAK” WITH MODIFIEDS COMES TO A HALT; STRUNK, SCHUTZ AND B.HIRTHLER CONTINUE TO LEAD NASCAR TRACK POINT STANDINGS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 16, 2017 . . . The “no-repeat winners’ streak” came to an end on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. Jared Umbenhauer became the 10th driver to win a TP Trailers 358 Modified feature and kept the win streak going. However in the second Modified feature of the night Doug Manmiller brought the streak to a halt. He became the first Modified driver to win for the second time during the season.
However two of the top three drivers over the years at Grandview Speedway still have not won a Modified feature race and that is very rare. The two drivers are 100-feature winner Craig VonDohren and multi-time champion Duane Howard. Of course that could all change on Saturday, July 22nd during the running of the Hatfield Quality Meats tripleheader night of racing action. Included will be NASCAR stock car racing for the TP Trailers Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman plus the added attraction of Blast from the Past Vintage Racers. Racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m.
Going into the Saturday night action ten time champion Jeff Strunk leads the Modified point standings with 2998 points followed closely by Craig VonDohren with 2963. Mike Gular holds down third with 2768 with Howard fourth at 2705 points.
Many time champion Chuck Schutz continues to hold on to the BRC Late Model point lead. With three wins and 2625 counters the Pottstown, PA racer leads four feature winner Ron Kline who has 2414 points. In third is Bryon Sipe with 2392 followed closely by Kyle Merkel at 2385.
In the Sportsman division Green Lane, PA’s Brian Hirthler is on top of the standings as he has been for much of the season, Hirthler has 2203 points followed by Brad Grim with 2006 and Ryan Lilick with 1847.
Interest continues to build in the annual Pioneer Pole Buildings Forrest Rogers Memorial set for Saturday, August 5th. The Classic event for the TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds is 50-laps and rewards the winner with at least $10,000 to win. Also included in the night of racing action will be the BRC Late Models and Sportsman.
