BECHTELSVILLE, PA  The really cold weather and the snow is now over. The real spring is here. At least that is what we are being told.
With all that in mind Grandview Speedway is going ahead with plans for their annual free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 30th starting at noon.
The practice, now a tradition, gives all racers a chance to make final adjustments on the racing equipment as they get ready for the official start of the season. All types of race cars are expected to be at the track ready to test their skills and their equipment on the banked one third mile clay oval on Saturday.
Practice will kick off at noon and continue until about 4 p.m. as the Grandview regulars get ready for the start of the new season set for Saturday, April 6, 7 p.m. The opener will feature the NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman in action. The Modifieds will be racing for $2500 to win plus a TP Trailers $250 bonus if they have the TP Trailers decal clearly visible on both sides of the race car.
Regular event admission for adults is $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted FREE.
As part of practice day, and the fact that Easter arrives on Sunday, early arriving youngsters will be able to get a bag of treats courtesy of the Grandview Speedway Facebook page.
Season ticket holders will be able to pick out their reserved seats on practice day and season tickets will be available for purchase.
For those entering the pits there will be no NASCAR license required but it will be a good day to make arrangements to obtain your pit license. Pit entry will cost $30 on practice day.
In case warm-ups at Grandview are cancelled for any reason, the pit/press office will be open from 12 noon-2 p.m. Sat., Mar. 30 to accept your NASCAR license applications that you will need to enter the pits on Sat., Apr. 6. Cost for modified drivers - $190 and everyone else is $95. Payment can be cash, credit cards of check made payable to NASCAR, Inc. Anyone that received an application in the mail, please use that one. Please have your application filled out completely, signed at both places on the back and your payment ready when you approach the window.
Coming up on Saturday, April 13th is a doubleheader feature show for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds plus racing for the Sportsman and Late Models. The Modifieds will race in two 35-lap features with $3250 available to each winner if they are running the TP Trailers decals clearly visible on each side of the race car. Those not carrying the decals will earn $3000 for their Modified feature win.
Adult admission price for the April 13th event is $20 while youngsters 6 through 12 pay just $5 and those under 6 are admitted FREE for the 7 p.m. events.
