BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . . . . Thunder on the Hill returns to Grandview Speedway for its’ thirty-second season in 2021. In the summer of 1990, Grandview Speedway owners Bruce and Theresa Rogers, Modified/Sprint Car Champion Dave Kelly and racing publicist Bob Miller met at the Bally Hotel to discuss running a 410 sprint car show at Grandview Speedway in August of 1990. The group discussed the challenges of such a show as well as the potential rewards if that first race comes off a success. Needless to say, the show was a big win even after battling the weather for most of the day of the event. With just one feature win scored by each Craig Von Dohren and Brian Hirthler were able to use consistency to earn the Grandview Speedway NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series titles. Von Dohren, who calls Oley, PA home, earned the T.P. Trailers NASCAR Modified title for the 11th time with his first being earned in 1988. HIRTHLER, BELTZ & HOWARD TOP 50 CAR FIELD OF MODIFIEDS TO SHARE TRIPLE 20 WINS SATURDAY NIGHT IN THUNDER SERIES AT GRANDVIEW
Bechtelsville, PA (October 17, 2020) – Three different winners topped the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Trick or Treat Triple 20s for Modifieds at Grandview Speedway on Saturday Night – with Kevin Hirthler, Ryan Beltz, and Duane Howard picking up the Modified wins. Kevin Hirthler would add a Sportsman victory to his tally for the night, winning that 20-lap event, as well. A field of fifty Modifieds took part in the event along with thirty-three Sportsman. This was the third event of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series of 2020 at Grandview in a season abbreviated by the current virus. On a cold night for racing, the show started promptly at 6 PM and the final checker flag fell before 9:30 PM. This also allowed many race fans to visit their favorite drivers in the pits. A much anticipated event to showcase the Trick or Treat Triple 20’s for the modifieds plus a full program for the sportsman leading up to their 20 lap feature event. Each Modified feature will pay $2,000 to the winner and with thanks to Pioneer Pole Buildings, a $2,500 bonus is posted to any driver who can sweep the three features making the hat trick work $8,500.
